Leah holds an Honors degree from the University of Oregon in Biology, in addition to a Master of Business Administration from the University of Portland. Prior to beginning a career in office administration, Leah was trained as a dental assistant, building a strong foundation of dental knowledge. She prides herself on being a life-long learner and finds it rewarding to continue educating herself in all aspects of dentistry to best serve our patients at Kennedy Dental. Leah enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and extended family; going on walks; and reading for leisure.
Alexus’s attraction to dentistry began as a patient in the dental chair herself. She completed dental assisting school in 2013 and since then she has been trained in insurance coordination and treatment planning. She finds it rewarding getting to know people and helping them understand and achieve their treatment goals. Alexus has an appreciation for quality dentistry which led her to the doors of Kennedy Dental. When she is out of the office and not working towards her dental hygiene major, Alexus enjoys paddle boarding and hiking with her dog, Stormie.
Carol grew up in Arizona where she attended dental assisting school and worked as a hygiene assistant for a couple of years before taking a break to raise her family. She has been working as a treatment coordinator since 2013 and loves building relationships with patients and helping them achieve their dental goals and gain confidence in their smiles. Becoming a part of the Kennedy Dental team and working in an office that truly values patients and our community has been such a blessing. When she is not in the office, she enjoys hiking, traveling to tropical destinations, and spending time with her family.
Jessica Mitchell has been Dr. Kennedy’s left hand and main assistant for more than 10 years now. Being a part of the Kennedy Dental team this long has allowed her to really get to know her patients and their individual needs, while developing these relationships. She enjoys the St. Johns community so much that became a part of it in 2008 when she moved to the neighborhood. Graduating from the Northwest Dental Institute in 2000 with top honors, Jessica has trained and worked in many specialty offices, such as Oral Surgery, Endodontics, and Periodontics. This has given her advanced skills and knowledge of the broad scope of patients dental needs. These skills are fully utilized with Dr. Kennedy and his quality dentistry. Jessica’s confidence and her unique skills allow her to provide outstanding quality and compassionate dental care. Jessica’s passion when she’s not working is exploring Oregon: hiking in the gorge, wine tasting at the coast, trying new restaurants in Portland, and kayaking in central Oregon.
Justine brings 7 years of dental experience to Kennedy Dental. Justine graduated from Concorde Career College in 2012 and has worked with many specialty dentists including Periodontists & Pediatric dentistry. She has found her passion for General Dentistry and that is why she is the perfect fit for Kennedy Dental. Her gentle touch and friendly chair-side manner helps patients feel more relaxed and comfortable during their visit. Justine is a Portland native, growing up in NE Portland. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves to try new places to eat around Portland, going to breweries that PDX has to offer, and traveling to different places with her best friends.
Audrey Lutes started her dental career in 1999 working in the front office and then going back for her Dental Hygiene degree in 2011. Born and raised in Oregon, she enjoys spending time with her husband and twin daughters. As a dental hygienist, her calling is to serve people and develop lasting relationships by promoting health and wellness through dental care.
A desire to learn the latest advancements in dental care and technology are what first attracted Shirley Ybarra to Kennedy Dental. A native of North Portland, she received her dental education at Carrington College and Portland Community College, and then began a dental career over 10 years ago as a dental assistant for Dr Jess Blankenship, Dr. Kennedy’s dental partner for over 20 years until his retirement in 2012. Shirley was attracted to dentistry for the opportunity to truly help people and create beautiful, healthy smiles. As a hygienist, she attends a variety of continuing education courses that keeps her job interesting and exciting. Because she loves what she does, and she brings her gentle nature to work each day, she is a favorite with Kennedy Dental patients. Shirley is a volunteer for Give Kids a Smile and Oregon Mission of Mercy. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, traveling, camping, driving to car shows in her 1923 Ford roadster, and taking long walks with her two Chihuahuas.
